There
are still thousands of bargains to be had on eBay and the biggest
challenge is finding them.
I
am here to show you how to take advantage of sellers mistakes,
because that’s where the real bargains are.
The
mistakes you will be taking advantage of are:
•
Spelling and punctuation mistakes
• Items listed in the wrong category
• Newby Listings
Spelling
mistakes:
These
happen when a seller has made a mistake when typing their title.
These items rarely have many bids, because they are a lot harder
to find. Unless you have a lot of time (or a lot of luck!) you
will never find these items by simply trawling through listings.
You will need a helping hand, go to our miss-spelling page.
This
tool will help you find miss-spelt listings on eBay. I have used
it many times and you will be amazed at how many mistakes people
make.
Not
all mistakes sellers make are due to spelling. Sellers may add
punctuation or a space which means they do not show up in most
searches.
Here
are two examples:
1)
If you are looking for a pair of the most popular jeans on ebay,
Levis. There are two ways of spelling it, you could type Levis
or Levi’s. These two spellings would in fact give different
results.
2)
Spaces are another thing that causes people to miss listings.
You may miss a listing by typing COCACOLA when it was listed as
COCA COLA.
There
is a way for you to find all the listings you are looking for.
If you take all the different ways of writing the word/words and
put bracs around them and split them up with commas, like this
(COCACOLA, COCA COLA).
This
will bring up all the listings for both.
Items
listed in the wrong categorys:
This
is handy for finding popular items such as MP3 player and printers.
What you are looking for is seller too have placed his item in
the wrong category.
i.e.
mp3 player listed in with the toys.
The
way you do this is, search for “MP3 Player” at eBay’s
homepage and using the Matching Categories on the left hand side
of the search results.
The
matching categories will show the name of the category and the
number of items wit-in it that match that search. What you do
is just go through them and hope you hit lucky.
Newby
Listings:
New
sellers often list their items poorly, which means they will sell
for less money. There are a number of reasons why they go for
less money.
Listings
that ends late at night on a weekday. When a listing is close
to finishing it is at its most visible as it will be on the first
page of the search but if its late at night when people are unlikely
to see it.
Postage
Prices. When new users start they usually know pretty much how
much they should ask for there items but most of them do not know
how much to charge for postage. This gives you a great opportunity
to grab a bargain.
If
you set up your ebay display to show you the postage price, you
can see at a glance any cheap postage. This is fantastic with
big thing such as computers and printers.
Another
good tip with postage is if you find an item which is pick up
only and it has zero bids wait until its almost ended and email
the seller tell them how much it would cost to send and would
they be willing to post it?
This
is great as pick up only puts off lots of bidders and if the listing
is almost over and it has no bids the seller may be willing to
post it for you.
Buy
it Now’s:
Buys
it now’s are great apart from all the good ones go in the
first few hours of them coming on to ebay. The best way to find
them is to go to newly listed items and search buy it now’s.
Computer
memory is a good example as there are hundreds listed every day
and chances are someone will not know the full value of what they
are selling and offer a cheap buy it now price.
Off
the wall:
Finding
completed listings. Go to Advanced Search in the top right of
any ebay page. You can search for listings which have been completed.
This
is handy as you can search for items which have finished but have
not sold. You can then contact the seller and find out when he
is going to re-list and maybe get a head-start on the listing,
or even arrange a bargain Buy It Now price!
